Set the clock
There was once a clockmaker who had a shop in the centre of the village. Every day a man stopped by and looked in the window, before hurrying on his way. After a year, the clockmaker hailed the man one day and asked him why he always stopped by the window but never entered the shop.
The man replied, “I am the time keeper for the o’clock” noon, To be accurate, I always check with your clock first.”Ah”said the clockmaker, “but I always set my clock after I hear the chimes of the church bells.”

一個表匠在村子的中央有個店鋪。每天都有個男人在門口停下來向窗子里望一望，然后繼續(xù)趕路。這樣過了一年后，表匠叫住了那個人，并問他為什么總是停在櫥窗前卻不進來。
那個人回答說：“我是鎮(zhèn)上負責報時的人，我必須在中午12點鐘敲響教堂的鐘。為了精確起見，我總是先與你的鐘表對一下。”
“啊”表匠說，“但是我總是在聽到教堂的鐘聲后才校準我的鐘表。”
