The Ass and the Grasshopper
An ass having heard some grasshoppers chirping, was highly enchantad ; and ,desiring to possess the same charms of melody, demanded what sort of food they lived on to give them such beautiful voices. They replied, “the dew.” The ass resolved that he would live only upon dew, and in a short time died of hunger.
驢和蚱蜢
一頭驢聽到了幾聲蚱蜢的鳴叫聲，并深深地被迷住了。驢也想擁有如此美妙的聲音，并且向知道蚱蜢吃了什么食物才會(huì)發(fā)出那么悅耳的聲音的。蚱蜢回答說是“露水.”于是，驢就下定決心以后就只喝露水，但是，不久它就餓死了。
