1.表達(dá)對事物的選擇或偏好
這個句型的完整結(jié)構(gòu)是：prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.。它主要用來表示選擇，意思是“比較喜歡……，而不喜歡……”、“寧愿做……而不愿做……”本句型中，prefer后面要加to不定詞，而rather than后面則接動詞原形。
例句：
I prefer to take a train to Taipei rather than fly there.
我寧愿搭火車去臺北，也不愿意搭飛機去那里。
2.表示在兩者之間所偏好或有所選擇的句型，例如：“prefer + 名詞/動名詞 + to + 名詞/動名詞”這個句型的意思是“寧愿選……而舍棄……”，“比較喜歡……，而不喜歡……”。to在這個句型中是介詞俄而不是不定詞，后面必須接名詞或者動名詞。
例句：
I prefer jazz music to rock music.
