Wood:Since this is a sample order and less than $10,000 in value, will you kindly make your payment terms easier for us?
Song:What do you suggest then?
Wood:Well, for this sample order, will you do us a special favor and exceptionally entertain pay ment by D/A? As far as I know, you did sometimes agree to such mode of payment, didn’t you?
Song: I’m sorry we cannot accommodate you there. It’s trus we did sometimes accepted D/A in our trade, but it was only under very rare circumstances that we did so. Now this order of yours is an entirely normal case, isn’t it?
Wood: Then how about D/P at sight? You should understand, it will involve great expense to open an L/C with a bank in our country . M oreover, it doesn’t pay for an order of such small amount.
Song: Maybe you are right. Well, I think we can make an ex ception for you. We will, as a special case, accept D/P at sight for this sample order.
Wood:Thanks a lot. As for regular orders in future, could you agree to time L/C?
