Multi-Word Verbs with Prepositional particle動詞+介詞
賓語放在動詞+介詞詞組的介詞后面。語序跟前一頁介紹的詞組語序有許多不同。
•介詞一般放在賓語前面，賓語是代詞的情況也不變。
I called on my aunt yesterday. 我昨天去拜訪我嬸嬸了。
I called on my aunt yesterday. 我昨天拜訪了她。
I’m going to ask for the bill. 我去要賬單。
I’m going to ask for it. 我去要它。
•插入副詞和副詞短語有兩種情況。一種像下面這樣，插在動詞和介詞之間：
I called unexpectedly on my aunt yesterday. 昨天我出乎意料地去拜訪嬸嬸。
I believe passionately in the National Health Service. 我非常相信全國健康服務(wù)機構(gòu)。
另一種像下面這樣接在動詞+介詞詞組后面：
I called on my aunt unexpectedly yesterday.
I believe in the National Health Service passionately.
介詞后面可以加關(guān)系代詞。
•The woman on whom I called yesterday was my aunt. 我昨天去拜訪的那個女人是我嬸嬸。
The thing in which I believe passionately is the National health Service.
在口語中像上面這樣的關(guān)系分句里可以省略關(guān)系代詞。
The woman I called on yesterday was my aunt.
The thing believe in passionately is the national Health Service.
Multi-Word Verbs with Two Particles 動詞++副詞+介詞
短語動詞里有動詞+副詞+介詞的構(gòu)成形式。
I will not put up with rudeness. 我無法忍受粗魯無禮。
I get on with my brother. 我和我兄弟一起生活。
We are looking forward to our holiday. 我們盼望著假期的到來。
這時的語序規(guī)則和動詞+介詞的規(guī)則幾乎一致。
•賓語是代詞的話，必須放在動詞+副詞+介詞詞組后面。
I get on very well with him.
I get on with him very well.
•在關(guān)系從句里，用動詞+副詞+介詞詞組的話，一般省略關(guān)系代詞。
There ‘s one person I don’t get on with.
有一個人我無法和他相處。
The thing I’m looking forward to is holiday.
我盼望的事就是度假。
