Formation of the Past perfect Simple Tense 過去完成時的構成
過去完成時是由動詞have 的過去式+普通動詞的過去分詞來構成的。
●規則動詞的過去分詞和它的過去式同形。
●不規則動詞的過去分詞和它的過去式形式不同，我們必須一個個地記住。

●過去完成時表示在某個過去點之前發生的事情。

在以上的例句中藍色字體的語句表示作為基準點的過去的某個時間點，而另一個（紅色字體）則是在基準點之前發生的事情。
●如果可以通過上下文很明顯看出來的話，就沒有必要清楚地說出過去的基準點。

I think it’s extraordinary. He’s never played golf before. 我覺得真令人驚奇，他以前從沒打過高爾夫。
●過去完成時經常和just或already一起使用。
I wanted to open the wine bottle, but Bob had already opened it.我想把酒瓶打開，但是鮑勃已經打開了。
I’d just heard the news when James rushed in.詹姆士闖進來的時候，我剛剛聽到消息。
●只是按照各種慘不忍睹生的時間順序 來表達，一般來說，全部都用過去時來表示。

同樣是過去發生的事，我們只在陳述與一個或者是多個發生的事情的緊密關系（例：表示一個事件是其他事件發生的原因）時才有必要使用過去完成時。

●有些情況下，我們既可以用過去時也可以用過去完成時來表示。
I felt ill after I played tennis. 我打完網球之后就病了。
I felt after I’d played tennis.我在打完網球之后病的。
上面使用了過去時的句子和使用了過去完成時的句子的意思沒有區別。由于后接after，我們就可以“打網球這個行為是在過去的時候）之前發生的事情。
但是，本章介紹的大部分過去完成時的例句我們都不能用過去時來替換。
