表示讓某人做某事或請求許可時有許多種表達方式。我們來看一下在不同的場合下的不同表達。為了這件使語調更為柔和以及增加禮貌程度，常用條件時態（條件時態用紅色來表示）。

什么時候使用哪一個并沒有嚴格的規定。 不過可以將下面的內容作為基準。
●陳述句要比命令句禮貌，疑問句更有禮貌。
例：stand …＜ I’d like you to stand.
＜ Would you stand…?
●條件時態比現在時態有禮貌。
例：Do you …?/Can you …?
＜ Would you …?/Could you…?
●長的表達要比短的句子有禮貌。
例：Could you…? ＜ Would you mind +-ing…
●不管哪種表達加please都比不加有禮貌。
例：Stand over there. ＜Stand over there, please.
I’d prefer it if you stood over there.
＜I’d prefer it if you stood over there, please.
