son of a gun
經常看好萊塢電影的朋友一定熟悉son of a bitch這句臟話。雖說美國比較注重議論自由，但傳媒的控制尺度還是很緊的，bitch在很多情況下就不可以使用。這個時候son of a gun就有“用武之地”了。
簡單地說，son of a gun就是son of a bitch的委婉用語，一樣起罵人的作用，但不算臟話。舉例如下：
Shannon: Brian told everybody that he led the team to victory . (Shannon: Brian告訴大家是他帶領隊伍取得了勝利。)
Louuse: Son of a gun! He did absolutely nothing, and he had the nerve to take all the credit? (louise:這個家伙！他啥事也沒做，居然有臉說勝利是他的功勞？)
除了罵人泄憤之外，son of a gun還有其他的英語用法，可以抒發不同的情緒。最常見的有三種：
1）它可以用作對某人的閑暇稱呼。這和中文里用罵人的話作閑暇稱呼有異曲同工之妙。比如父母會叫自己的女兒“死丫頭”，妻子會叫自己的丈夫“死鬼”等等。舉例如下：
Mom: It’s getting late. Turn off the compiter and go to bed now! (母親：很晚了。關掉電腦，上床睡覺！)
Son: Let me finish game. Five munutes tops. Please, please,please?(兒子：讓我打完這個游戲。最多5分鐘。求求你了，好不好？)
Mom: All right, you son of a gun! （母親：好吧，調皮鬼�。�
2）它可以描述困難、麻煩和討厭的事，帶有不耐煩的情緒。比如：
This project a real son of a gun! So many things need to be taken care of, yet we have so little and money. I want to scream! （這項任務太討厭了�。�
有那么多事要處理，但時間那么少，預算又那么緊。我想尖叫！）
3）它可以作為意外、失望和驚訝發出的感嘆英語解釋。比如：
Andrew: I just heard that our dean died in a car accident. (Andrew: 我剛聽說教導主任因車禍身亡。)
Bill: Son of a gun! (Bill:什么？！)
