to do someone’s heart good 使某人高興
中文里常說“對……有益處”，英文中也有相似的的說法：do…good(=do good to…)。而英文的do someone’s heart good（對某人的心有益處），則是“使某人高興的意思。
★ It does Amy’s heart good to see her grandchildren so healthy and happy.
看到孫兒信如此健康快樂，艾美感到很高興。
★ It did my heart good to hear how successful you’ve become.
聽到你這么成功，我很高興。
Not have the heart (to do something)

前面提過，the heart代表“心地‘，尤其是”善良的民地“。因?yàn)樾牡厣屏迹蝗绦娜プ瞿呈拢⑽睦锞头Q之為not have the heart (to do something).

To lose heart 泄氣
人生不如意事十之八九，一般人遇到不如意的事，難免感到泄氣。中文里的“泄氣”，英文則會用lose heart來表達(dá)。
★ I know it’s difficult to fie a job now, but don’t lose heart.
你知道現(xiàn)在很難找到工作，但別泄氣啊！
★ After 24 hours had passed and there was still no news of the missing plane, we began to lose heart.
飛機(jī)在失蹤二十四小時后仍無任何消息，我們開始感到泄氣。
To take heart感受鼓勵
Take heart 與lose heart（泄氣）的意義相反，表示“感受鼓勵，產(chǎn)生勇氣”的意思。
★ Small businesses should take heart at the government’s tax relief plan.
小企業(yè)議論地因政府的減稅方案而受到激勵。
★ I had been worried about failing English, but I took heart at my teacher’s words of encouragement.
我原先擔(dān)心英文會不及格，但聽了老師鼓勵的話之后就產(chǎn)生了勇氣。
to lose ones’ heart to somebody/something愛上某人/某物
lose ones’ heart to somebody/something字面上是“把你自己的心輸給某人或某物”，意思就是“愛上某人”或“喜愛某物”，與泄氣無關(guān)。
★ Lucy has lost her heart to a billionaire much older than her.
露西愛上一個年紀(jì)比她大很多的億萬富翁。
★ Todd lost his heart to photography since he was a student.
托德在學(xué)生時代就愛上了攝影。
