the limbs四肢
1. arm
Every person has two arms: the right arm and the left arm. The right arm is usually stronger, so we call a good helper the right arm.
We all know an arm is not vry long. But when yhou keep someone at arm’s length, the distance is long enough. For that means you do not like that person and you try your best to avoid him or her. We should indeed keep the bad friends at arm’s length.
2. elbow
Once in a while you sit with your head in your hands and both elbows on the table, don’t you/ You may use your elbows again when you want to go through a big crowd. Then you have to elbow your way through it .
The word also refers to the part of the sleeve of a coat which covrs the elbow. A poor man usually wears old, ragged clothes, and in both elbows of the sleeves, you may even see holes. So, to desctibe a poor man wearing shabby colthes, you can say that he looks out at elbows.
當你要穿過擁擠的人群時,你也會用得著雙肘,那時你就得擠過去(to elbow your way through it ).
