在歐美國(guó)家，人們會(huì)參加很多聚會(huì)來(lái)擴(kuò)大交際圈。與陌生人交往，我們交不了介紹自己，或者像別人介紹自己的家人或朋友，在做正式的介紹時(shí)，英語(yǔ)常常遵循以下原則；
（1） 將年幼者先介紹給年長(zhǎng)者；
（2） 將職位低的先介紹給職位高的；
（3） 如果雙方是同輩，則要先將男性介紹給女性。如果兩人地位和年齡相差不大，用非正式的介紹即可。
介紹的過(guò)程中，被介紹人務(wù)必記住對(duì)方的姓名，這樣，別人有一種被尊重的感覺(jué)。如果你真的沒(méi)記住或者沒(méi)有聽(tīng)清楚對(duì)方的姓名或因?qū)Ψ降男彰L(zhǎng)，要真誠(chéng)地請(qǐng)對(duì)方再說(shuō)一遍，或者干脆問(wèn)對(duì)方如何拼寫(xiě)。
在正式場(chǎng)合下，一定要說(shuō)出自己完整的名字（full name）。并且，人們往往會(huì)通報(bào)自己的職業(yè)及家鄉(xiāng)國(guó)籍等。當(dāng)然，非正式場(chǎng)合，如朋友生日聚會(huì)，人們常常只說(shuō)出自己的名字（given name 或the first name ）。有些人為拉近與朋友的距離，干脆說(shuō)出自己的小名（childhood name）如Bob、Judy 、Lisa等。
