在美國的留學生獲得美國學位后一般會有一定期限的OPT臨時工作許可。文科碩士一般是一年，STEM專業的學生OPT可以延長達29個月之久。一般情況下，在畢業后便可以申請OPT，被公司錄用后，就可以在美國合法工作了，在這期間，如果美國公司重視你，他們可能會為你申請HIB簽證，有了HIB簽證之后，便可以申請綠卡。但拿到HIB是很難的，拿到綠卡就更難了。不過，畢業后能留在美國工作1-2年也是很好的，不但可以掙會學費，還可以獲得寶貴的工作經驗。
