Jenny花的一個美國同學(xué)沒能考上父母所要求的大學(xué)，只上了所普通大學(xué)，受到了父母的數(shù)落。所以和Jenny花去報名時，同學(xué)心情不是很好。同學(xué)埋怨道：“I’ve been in the doghouse with my mom and dad.”Jenny花聽了詫異得很：“她們家挺富有的啊，她怎么會和她爸媽一起住在狗屋里呢？”于是Jenny花問：“Why do you live in the doghouse?”同學(xué)哭笑不得。

英語小解說
doghouse是一個由兩個詞所組成的復(fù)合詞，一個是dog狗，另一個是house房子。doghouse這個詞的原意就是“狗睡覺的房子”，也就是“狗窩”。In the doghouse作為俗語意思是“使某人很生氣”，因為做了讓某人不開心的事情，以至于被懲罰跟自家的狗睡在一起，隱含了“倒霉”的意思，所以I’ve been in the doghouse with my mom and dad.的意思就是“我的父母一直對我很生氣。”
