在美國生活，平時難免會給其他州的朋友或者國內的親戚朋友寄些東西。首先說說信封的主要事項。由于不同郵局的要求不同，所以地址等位置的填寫也會不同，但大體內容是一樣的。收件人記憶寄信人的地址、姓名、郵編、電話都需要寫上。郵寄重要信件或物品時，一般用雙語，先寫一遍英文，之后是中文，但最重要的是完成填寫后，一定要把最終目的地用英文和中文寫在醒目的地方。一般情況下平均一周時間可到達。由于不同地方郵費標準不同，查閱相關郵局網站即可，美國郵政局的網址：http://www.usps.com/ 。一般經常旅游的朋友可以去收集美國不同城市的郵戳，郵局會有專門的地方免費蓋戳，另外專門用來收集這些郵戳的冊子，郵局也有售。聯合國大樓的地下郵局可以制作含有自己大頭像的郵票，之后可以寄給家人，很有紀念意義。另外景成旅游的朋友會明白，最珍貴的不是將一張空白的明信片帶回國去，而是從美國的當地寄回家里，這樣上面會有每個地方的郵件專用郵戳，若干年后你會覺得這些十分珍貴。
